St. Gabriel Classical Academy, serving students Pre-K through 7th grade (8th grade in Fall 2024), uniquely provides a Catholic and a Classical education for living a sacramental life and achieving academic excellence. We believe children are much more than the sum of their standardized test scores. A talented team of educators and an integrated and challenging curriculum teaches them how to think critically and choose rightly.
How did we get here? In March 2021, generous benefactors approached Bishop Sheridan asking if they could fund the building of a Catholic school at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. Bishop agreed and directed them to the pastor, Fr. Kirk Slattery, who responded, “Yes, we have wanted to build a school here for years!”
Our school was born from that invitation and we welcomed 50 students and their families to our SGCA community in August 2022. God's blessings on this community led to tremendous demand, and as a result, enrollment grew to 165 students for the 2023-2024 school year.
We are now happily "busting at the seams" of our parish facility and look forward to moving into our new school building in August 2024. This brings opportunity to signficantly increase our school community to reach up to 400 students and their families.

As the parish school of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic church we envision our efforts and mission to be united. The wings lie behind all of the other elements and form the foundation of the logo. They represent both our common patron and the culture of unity.
Angelic Symbols
On top of the foundational wings are two symbols common to angelic imagery and St. Gabriel specifically. The spear is a symbol associated with defense and vigilance. The trumpet is a very recognizable symbol of St. Gabriel’s role in proclaiming to Mary the Incarnation and God’s message of salvation. Together these symbols represent our commitment to be heralds of the Gospel and our willingness to defend it.
Shield
On top of the angelic implements is a shield, a universally recognizable symbol of protection. In antiquity, shields often bore symbols which projected power and identified whom they served. Our shield face is divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant contains symbolism related to the truth we serve and the spiritual power we call upon. In the upper left, suspended over a field of blue, is the Immaculate Heart of Mary. From ancient Jewish tradition, the blue represents her obedience which we desire to emulate. The familiar heart and flame emphasize Mary’s interior life of unwavering faith and her loving devotion as a mother. We seek Mary’s maternal intercession and guidance in teaching our children. In the upper right quadrant are familiar symbols of St. Joseph upon a field of white. The white represents chastity, and the crossed carpenters tools his essential fraternal role in caring for, guiding, and protecting the Holy Family. We seek St. Joseph’s intercession in defense of the family and the domestic church. The lower right contains the heraldic symbolism of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. As a diocesan school we act always in obedience to our Bishop. The lower left quadrant, with symbols of the Holy See, reflects our fidelity with the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
Christian Cross
While part of the shield, and creating the four quadrants described above, its dominant placement is the “highest” of the entire logo. It represents that above all it is Christ who teaches us, protects us, and saves us. As such all our efforts in education and otherwise, are directed toward becoming His disciples in both name and way of life.
Fides Quaerens Intellectum-Faith Seeking Understanding
Our school motto has been inspired by St. Augustine, St. Anselm and by all those in our rich Catholic tradition who have taught us how to encounter and know God through meticulous reasoning grounded in deep faith. This too is our starting place as an institution of learning.
Two Strand Chord
Hanging near the bottom of the cross is a chord of two strands woven together. One chord represents the academy, while the other represents families. As with any rope, greater strands and integrated construction make the rope stronger. This rope represents for us the essential understanding that both the academy and parents have a joint responsibility to raise our children in the faith. Only working together can our common goal be realized.
